read on FB that the owner was saying Karate is injured... which is nice.

everyone ready for the return leg tom?

Couple of early away goals and we should probably just send all the kids on to 'ave a larf

Zarate went off with a knock in the 1st leg and will not play tonight. Josh Cullen - who looked very composed when he came on - will take his place. It is likely that Elliot Lee may also start up front with Sakho

Zarate went off in the first leg with a minor groin injury but has apparently been training all week but will not be risked tonight so Lee will take his place Upfront which good to see that They are not risking players etc

Job done... 0-1 on the night 4-0 over all

we play the Maltans next - which is nicer than a trip to Eastern Europe

Elliot Lee scored his first goal for the club

Sakho got himself sent off - no idea what for - so he'll be out for the next leg

but we're all suited and booted for more european football

Not the most inspiring of results was it? Best thing to be said from that is job done and the bright spot was Lee's first goal.

You say that Alfie but nobody seems to have actually seen what happened. If the home leg is anything to go by, their players were feigning injury all evening and were quite frankly, a disgrace

    this is West Ham United...

an away fixture... with 10 men for over an hour

a team line-up of basically kids who have little or no first team experience

against a team that was only interested in fouling

if that's "uninspiring" then you might be playing a little too hard to please...

    right ho mate

If we get through this next round

we are one of the 33 second qualifying round winners
we then end up in the pot with the following teams (which enter at the 3rd Q Round)
A total of 58 teams in this round then

    Borussia Dortmund (GER) 99.883
    FC Rubin Kazan (RUS) 57.099
    Athletic Club (ESP) 56.999
    AZ Alkmaar (NED) 46.695
    R. Standard de Liège (BEL) 25.440
FC Girondins de Bordeaux (FRA) 24.483
    UC Sampdoria (ITA) 18.102
    Vitória SC (POR) 17.776
    AS Saint-Étienne (FRA) 16.983
    FC Zürich (SUI) 16.875
    FC Slovan Liberec (CZE) 16.325
    Southampton FC (ENG) 16.078
    FC Krasnodar (RUS) 15.099
    CS Os Belenenses (POR) 12.276
    FC Vorksla Poltava (UKR) 11.033
    Atromitos FC (GRE) 10.880
    FC Zorya Luhansk (UKR) 10.533
    Vitesse (NED) 10.195
    FK Jablonec (CZE) 9.325
    SK Sturm Graz (AUT) 9.135
    AEK Larnaca FC (CYP) 8.460
Hapoel Kiryat Shmona FC (ISR) 7.200
    İstanbul Başakşehir (TUR) 6.520
    ASA Târgu Mureş (ROU) 5.259
    SCR Altach (AUT) 5.135

If we are then fortunate enough to avoid getting knocked out
the 29 winners from the above round
and 15 UEFA Champions League third qualifying round losers
create a play off round of which the winners (22 teams) enter the group stage

    The group stage
take the 22 winners above and a further 10 UEFA Champions League play-off losers
add to that the teams below which qualified to enter at the group stage and you get 48 teams, which then go into 12 x 4 team groups

FC Schalke 04 (GER) coefficient 111.883
    SSC Napoli (ITA) 84.102
    Tottenham Hotspur FC (ENG) 84.078
    Villarreal CF (ESP) 58.999
    Olympique de Marseille (FRA) 55.483
    FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk (UKR) 52.033
    SC Braga (POR) 51.776
    ACF Fiorentina (ITA) 49.102
    RSC Anderlecht (BEL) 47.440
    Liverpool FC (ENG) 47.078
    Beşiktaş JK (TUR) 36.520
    FC Lokomotiv Moskva (RUS) 23.099
    FC Augsburg (GER) 15.883
    Asteras Tripolis FC (GRE) 13.380
    FC Groningen (NED) 8.695
    FC Sion (SUI) 8.375

typical over complicated nonsense from UEFA

Edit, thought I would look at the next knock out stage

    12 group winners
and the 12 group runner ups are then joined by Another 8 losers from Champions League
for the final 32 knock out

that is a total incl all qualifiers of 164 teams 33 of which have been knocked out of the Champions League cheesey grin

West Ham were seeded 5th in this current round

3rd Ql round - seeded 16th out of 58 teams
play off round - seeded 23rd out of 44

Group stage we appear to have no ranking at all, if we do survive that long it looks like we will be in Pot 4 due to the 'UEFA coefficients"
If you can understand the UEFA coefficients good luck [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

I know it's an old rant and I know there's nothing I can do about it, but...

If you get knocked out of the Champions League then - tough shit.

you should NOT get included n the 'lesser' competition either at the qualification stages or during the actual competition itself.

Stick to one competition... leave it like that... if you play well and get through or win it - good for you.

If you don't - tough luck, try harder next year.

All this failing in one competition and then getting a 'bye' into another one just devalues the 'second' competition itself and the efforts of the clubs/teams who are actually in it.

2nd rant.... why no TV coverage of today's game????

honestly? even WHUTV is only doing an audio comms - but they're obviously filming the game because they're offering free highlights later on today???

The Andorran game (as potato quality as it was) got broadcast via a youtube stream.... how come nothing for this one (or is there a sausage someone knows about?)

    is it as rights issue?

cos if so... then to my mind, if the broadcasters aren't doing a broadcast then the clubs should be free and clear to do whatever they can.

I got a day off work and everything, so it'd be nice to watch us play...
