I think Barton has (finally) matured and has been a decent player for QPR last few years.
I also felt the same about Bellamy and he became a bit of a fave of mine.
That said, I really don't want Barton here.

I can only imagine that we are having trouble doing a deal with Barcelona for Alex Song and/or there are concerns over Obiang's fitness and need some cover before the window closes. I believe that we will go back in for Song in January if he has proved his fitness. Barton will only be cover for League Cup, injuries/suspensions

I'm coming round to the idea (It's the West Ham Way!) I've said elsewhere I think he is a decent enough player, has matured to a degree and we need the bodies for a SQUAD - he shouldn't be viewed by anyone as a regular starter.
If it happens, it happens. I have disliked other players who have come to us more-Bellamy and Bowyer for example. My opinion of them didn't change whilst in Claret & Blue.
Just hope he is not coming on a fat wedge.
