Wellington cops large quake!

a 6.5 mag quake has struck Wellington 2 hours ago. Emergency services and civil defence are in full swing. So far only reports of extensive damage but thankfully no loss of lives. All flights in and out are suspended and all inter island ferry services are cancelled. I'm sure there will be clips soon on u tube, but i'll keep you updated.

Hope the damage to property and life is as minimal as it possibly can be

It seems damage is relatively moderate. No loss of life thankfully. Wellington was a fairly quiet city today, people were asked to stay home while buildings etc were checked for damage. No train services operating. I'll tell you for nothing though, that would have frightened the living crap out of the locals. ( I'm a Wellington born & bred Bloke)

Although the damage in Wellington SEEMS minor, it will take a fair while for the city to return to normal. Can you imagine how scared the folks must be, expecting the next big one? Your thoughts will not go unoticed!.

Only just read of this. Not a lot of news up in the sticks of Northumberland. Hope all is returning to as normal as it can be Stew.

No, mate thankfully Lampard minor is nowhere near here!
Nicki, thanks, it seems that Wellington was very ,very lucky to escape with relatively minor damage. Still scary but, and who knows whats ahead.
