Here we go... they don't broadcast Carling Cup games in the USA... so anyone know any snausages?

P.S. We should score about 10, shouldn't we?

Team: Adrian, Chambers, Tomkins (capt), McCartney, Rat, Cole, Diarra, Taylor, Collison, Morrison, Vaz Te

Subs: Henderson, Diame, Nolan, Lleget, Ruddock, Downing, Lee

Sam says Downing needs game time. WTF?!!

Weaker side than I was expecting. Who is partnering Tomkins? I would have preferred Collins with him. Lower league footballers might not play pretty but they play hard.

Also, cup-tieing Taylor is not good. I would have rested Cole, and played Downing.

Weakening that defence worries me though.

lot of people thought he wouldn't drop Nolan - so that's an interesting choice.

Hmmm... according to the Manager... Downing DOES need game time because he wasn't fully fit pre-season or some such nonsense I might have read somewhere or made up completely...

    Interesting thought on cup-tieing people....

No Maiga at all? Surely he's the one who needs the playing time and a goal or two against lower league opposition to build his confidence... but not risking him at all might be a clue to who might get sold before next week...

I'm happy to see a bunch of the yoof get a chance... but feel weird about the risks of underestimating lower league opposition with our record in cup competitions.

The Owner (Sully I think) said we'd go strong in the cup... but I'm not sure the message got through to Sam on this team selection...

15: Diarra falls on the ball and he seems to have hurt himself, but he's also given away a free-kick in a central area about 30 yards out. My money here is on Richards. The former Ipswich man curls his shot a fair way off target. Goal kick.

20: Diarra tries a few jogs along the touchline before re-entering the fray.

18: Diarra is hurt again, this time making a challenge inside his own half. It's his right leg this time. The France international hobbles a few yards towards the touchline and then sits down on the turf. His race may well be run. Nolan is out warming up.

25: Chambers has settled into the game. He is a good footballer, is the England Under-19 international, and he has already played a number of decent passes into the midfield. Chambers, who is wearing No37, spent much of last season out with a knee injury, but he has always been highly thought of at the Club.

Can't even think of what league Cheltenham play in.

My boys and their crew have all gone to this game so I expect to get feedback from them on this.
As for myself I just cannot be bother to go to this type of game.
How many times have we put out a weaken team and lost.

32: Diarra has the physio on again. It seems to be his right knee. Taylor signals to the bench that the No18 is going to need to go off. The Pitch Rescue team trot out with their big orange stretcher.

Has he been trying too hard or just being a numpty?

39: Richards comes within a yard of putting Cheltenham in front. A loose ball drops to the No14 after McCartney failed to clear and the bald-headed midfielder smashes a right-foot shot just over the top from 25 yards. Adrian was struggling to keep that one out had it been a yard lower.

Maybe we SHOULD be playing Nolan...

Here we go... I look away for two minutes and:

42: GOAL! Pick that out! That's a special goal from Vaz Te, who curls an unstoppable shot over the wall and high into the top left-hand corner. What a strike! Vaz Te looks a bit shocked to have done that, but he is soon surrounding by celebrating team-mates. It's not been a classic opening half, but that made up for it!

    flippin' 'eck Tucker...

gimme time to catch up will ya...

45.38: GOAL! Another superb goal and this time it is Ravel Morrison. Downing is involved, controlling and then sliding the ball inside for Morrison, who uses a piece of skill to lose the attentions of two defenders before driving a low right-foot shot inside Brown's left-hand post. Superb skill. Superb finish.

One half-time change from Big Sam as Stewart Downing is on for Cole.
