    Kevin Nolan

Post  Arran H on Sat 31 Jan 2015, 7:51 pm

Kevin Nolan ... Does he have something in his contract that states he has to play every game regardless of his form ?!?

Every fupping game he loses the ball and just does fupp all in general

I knew at the start of the season as soon as Him n Andy were fit they were going start regardless of how we started and look what it has done we are no where near as good as we were at the start of the season we seem to have lost the speed and quick closing down etc that we were doing so well at the start of the season , I think had we not had the start we did we would be in the bottem 3 for sure as sam has reverted back to his tactics of last season

People moaning that Valencia is not scoring - the reason being is he is being play on the fupping right when he should be upfront ... why is he not ... because of that lanky pile crap Carroll

Would this be the same "lanky pile of crap" that has scored 5 goals in 12 league appearances with 1 assist since his return from injury? If Sakho, Valencia, Carroll & Cole were all available I would play Carroll and Sakho

We played much better football and looked a much better team and looked more of threat going forward when Sakho and Valencia were paired together upfront IMO and when we had a midfield of Noble-Song-Kouyate-Downing , I knew straight away that as soon as Nolan and Carroll were fit that would be the end of the "New style of West ham" that we saw at the start of the season and lets be honest if wasn't for the board we wouldn't of had Sakho etc or even Sheringham at the club so everyone who applauds Sam for the season we have had so far Imo is wrong to praise Sam as if board hadn't of done anything we would still be now playing the long hope for the best football we saw last season and starting to see now so the people who should get the praise for how well we have done up till now should go to the board and not Sam Allardyce !

Conversely since Andy Carroll has come back he looks (until yesterday) fit and agile and was scoring goals. Valencia on the other hand has gone backwards since the Hull City game. He was brought in to score goals. He is struggling to even have an effect on a game - home or away. Sakho on the other hand has taken to PL football like a duck to water but has been injured

Not sure how simply leaving Carroll out as you suggest would solve the other problems? Like Nolan playing every game, Sakho and Kouyate being unavailable for whatever reason, Downing being played out of position to accommodate Nolan, our defence leaking goals because there is no real cover in front of them

In your eyes it all seems to be AC's fault. I just don't get that at all

I`m not blaming Andy at all , He is when fit and good hard working striker but what I`m trying to say is I don't understand why Sam changed the formation and brought Andy and Nolan straight away as soon as they were fit and which IMO disrupted the rhythm and style of play we were playing at the time which was working etc

Carroll's not the problem - true, he was petulant and pissy in his first few games, probably cos he was struggling to catch up with the game but he was kinda forced not the team cos of injuries.

The "fault" lies more with the Nolan selection and even that is not exactly Nolan's 'fault' - I mean... what's he gonna do, tell the gaffer he's not willing to play?

Boxers fight until they can hardly walk or talk... it's tough for a performer to realize or admit when they can't do it any more... is it just a dip in form, is the beginning of a downward spiral? It's hard to know/

But the bigger issue is the formation and tactics...

I know you need to switch things around and sometimes but if you have a system that works WHY NOT STICK TO IT?

We were awesome the first time against Liverpool, everything clicked... we demolished them... then since... we've not really played the same formation or style.

Valencia and Carroll started looking like they were developing together but now as stated above, Valencia is dropping in form... is it tactics? is his career over at the top level? who knows.

Carroll is getting into his stride, he defends well, he battles well... he scores...

But behind the front two is where our problems seems to lie...

Song came back and clearly was off his game... was it a temporary lack of form? is his career over? He was better against Liverpool yesterday

But downing... every journey in the country was writing about how his career had been transformed in a matter of a couple of games... he was being touted for england...

then he's dumped out on the wing (which seems a logical place for a great crosser of the ball) but his form has dipped astonishingly and so coincidentally or not has the form of the team...

Beyond all else THAT is what baffles me and seems to baffle a number of other people here (so it's nice to know I'm not just going insane)

If Valencia has a dip in form... play Sakho in his place
If Carroll has a dip in form... play Sakho in his place
Three good forwards... you can rotate them as necessary... but there's no reason to change how they play.

If Downing plays best and the team performs best when he's playing through the middle... why not keep him there (Does Liverpool ever play Gerrard on the wing or in defense?)

Song is clearly our best midfield player (as painful as it is that he might be gone at the end of the season) so with Downing roaming at the tip of the diamond and Song anchoring at the back... there's two positions to fill..

Nolan and noble are not identical but play too similarly (i.e. poorly) to work together unless things are going completely Pete Tong.. so swap them in and out as fitness, performance and results dictate.

Then you have amalfitano and/or jarvis to swap in and out for width, etc...

no one - not even BFSA would start putting Adrian or Jussi on the wing or play Cresswell as a #9 on a regular basis so it irks me to see the rest of the team fucked about with and then (unsurprisingly) the results not going our way...

Unbelievable isn't it ? Everyone else can see the problem but Sam wont see it.

Off the top of my head 3 or 4 of the games before yesterday Downing
started on the wing and it clearly didnt work so Sam moved him into
the middle, surprise surprise our performance improved with him
pulling the strings in the middle.

wake up Sam for fupp sake.

That is inredible.  hope he finds out soon, we could be so much better without Nolan in the side. Please just don't take it out on Nolan. He is very good in many other ways and as captain. It is not his fault, that he is getting old or that Fat Sam keeps picking him.

Valencia and carroll - sakho and carroll - valencia and sakho, doesn't really matter. All three of them are class, as long as we play with a pair of these up front, I am happy.. I just hope we do not lose Valencia to Chelsea. He has not at all shown us his full potential yet, I feel!

Now come on Jiggs its not SAM fault that some of our players cannot pass a ball however it is his fault when his selection is wrong and his tactic are wrong. i.e. Plan A and only plan A.

I don't have a huge problem with the selection of Nolan.

He's a decent (decent, not great) captain - and we often times lack leadership on the field, so if not him.. who?

His form has dipped a lot recently - or has it dipped? He was often (always?) hit and miss... but the 'hit' side seems to have gone a bit boogers caravan in recent months so that's worrying

But he does find poacher's goals and is always on the goal line bugging the defenders and goalie, so he does more of that than anyone else we have

But I'd still play him over Noble

    But...

    BUT!!!!!!!

I'd make sure that whether he plays or not... I'd play Downing THROUGH THE MIDDLE

as that makes the biggest difference to the team's overall performance.

So I think you can still call on Nolan when needed but unless you're playing the team as a whole to the best and most constructive formation then whether you play Nolan or not is kinda moot....

Nolan is at best a player that should start on the bench and only be brought on later in a game IMO , Is no longer a player who should starts game in this league as he is way to slow and past it now IMO and as anyone notice his goal stats for us over the three full seasons he has been with us they are dropping :
    2011/2012 Championship Gls:13
    2012/2013 Premiership Gls:10
    2013/2014 Premiership Gls:7
    2014/2015 Premiership Gls:1 ( So Far this season )

Holy shit... can this be true?

"Carlton Cole and Darren Fletcher are having their medicals at West Brom - both deals are expected to go through without a hitch in the next half an hour or so."

    I know... I know...

now the papers are kicking off at how badly we're treating Cole...

where were they last year when we dumped his ass only to hire him back when no one else would take him...

it is pretty shameful... to be honest, if he was a better player it might actually mean something..
