The Arsenal vs West Ham United -- Sat March 14th Sam-allardyce-arsene-wenger-arsenal-west-ham_3275698
Arsenal host West Ham on Saturday looking for their fifth-straight Premier League win as they look to cement their Champions League charge.
The Gunners can cap a good week with victory over the Hammers after they beat Manchester United at Old Trafford on Monday to book their place in the semi-finals of the FA Cup.
Arsene Wenger's men have put themselves at the head of the pack chasing the top two, and now sit only four points behind second-placed Manchester City ahead of the weekend's games.
The visitors, meanwhile, have lost eight successive Premier League matches against Arsenal and have not won a top-flight fixture since their victory over Hull in the middle of January.
    Team news
Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain faces up to a month out with a hamstring injury.
Midfielder Mathieu Flamini is back in contention for Saturday's match against West Ham after a hamstring problem.
Club captain Mikel Arteta (ankle) is set to step up his rehabilitation, as is defender Gabriel (hamstring), but Jack Wilshere (ankle) is still a few weeks away from a return.
West Ham are without James Tomkins for their trip to London rivals Arsenal after the defender dislocated his shoulder in training.

West Ham are without James Tomkins for their trip to London rivals Arsenal after the defender dislocated his shoulder in training.
The Hammers could also be without three of their first-team strikers. Carlton Cole (hamstring) and Andy Carroll (knee) are definite absentees whilst Enner Valencia is struggling to be fit having suffered a severe cut to his toe after standing on a broken teacup.
Winston Reid will miss out with a hamstring complaint, on-loan Carl Jenkinson cannot feature against his parent club and Alex Song (knee) could also be sidelined - although fellow midfielder Morgan Amalfitano is back having served a three-match ban. Sixteen-year-old defender Reece Oxford could be included in the squad as cover.
    Opta facts
Theo Walcott has scored five goals and set up three more in his last four Barclays Premier League games against West Ham, while Olivier Giroud has scored four goals in his four Premier League appearances against the Hammers.
West Ham have won none of the last 13 top-flight matches against Arsenal (W0 D2 L11), losing the last eight in a row.
The Hammers have scored the first goal in four of the last five Premier League meetings with Arsenal, but the Gunners have come back to win on each occasion.
Arsenal are unbeaten in their last 12 Premier League London derbies at the Emirates, but West Ham were the first team ever to beat Arsenal at their new stadium back in April 2007.
Sam Allardyce has never coached a winning team away at Arsenal in the Premier League, losing seven and drawing three of his 10.
Arsenal have won seven consecutive home league games; they have not won eight in a row since November 2005 (13).
    Merson's prediction
West Ham have hit a bit of a bad run and this time of year Arsenal are very reliable. It was good to see Danny Welbeck score for Arsenal at Manchester United but I think they’ll play Olivier Giroud in this game and he can score first in a 3-0 win.
    MERSE PREDICTS: 3-0

Here we go... up the Arse

looks like the good news is already starting to pile up before the game...

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

“Enner has had an accident at home and has cut his big toe quite severely on a broken cup,” said Allardyce. “It has been stitched. We are not sure if he will be considered for this game. It was a freak accident.

“Our lack of goalscoring power is a worry. Not having alternatives to use is concerning going into the last ten league games.”

West Ham will also be without Carl Jenkinson against Arsenal because the right-back is ineligible to face his parent club.

I've always wondered... since you're not allowed to bet on the games you play in and aren't supposed to interfere in other teams'... 'stuff' - how is it legal that a club is allowed to embargo their loan players from playing against them?
If you liked the player enough... don't loan 'em out.
If you don't want them playing against you - don't loan 'em out to a team in the same division.
    Seems pretty simple to me

Anyway... we're dropping so far down the table that it looks like the Euro places are completely out of reach... and even the top ten is starting to look a little shaky...

    Oh well.

    Up 'n' at 'em boys!!!!

3-0 defeat will be a result as we are likely to field steam barely stronger than that put out against Forret in the cup last season. Whinger must be rubbing his hands at the prospect of the easiest 3 points of the season!

Going to be a very tough game tomorrow and cant see us getting a draw let alone a Win
I guess with Tomkins now out , Kouyate will be pushed back into defence alongside Collins with hopefully Amalfitano taking his place in Midfield

    I would go with :
    Adrian
    Demel
    Kouyate
    Collins
    Cresswell
    Downing
    Noble
    Amalfitano
    Song
    Nene
    Sakho

I thought Song was doubtful as well...

The one bit of good news is that because you lot haven't put your clocks forward... the game actually kicks off at 8:00am tomorrow so at least it won't be too painful to get up for - even if the result might be a little tough to swallow...

    damn, missed the tomkins news.

I know west ham can get surprising results against the bigger teams, but even with this in mind I can see anything other then a loss today.

IMO and all things taken in to consideration, the attitude we all seem to have going in to today's game is that of a small time club with limited resources and are gonna get well beat and if we are to improve, moving forward into our new era with top 6 finishes and European aspirations, cup runs etc and not have these feelings of dread when approaching games we will need to strengthen in all departments firstly and foremost replacing the dinosaur in charge.

The palace game was the big one for me. We all knew we had that difficult run of games, I think there was a post about guessing how many points we'd get from our next 7 games. We did ok in the 7 games, mostly draws, got to palace at home and looked pants. Combined with a few injuries and going out the FA cup and it was pretty much doom and gloom/ season over.

West ham have done well in the whole of the first half up until the last few seconds , shame about that as we have stopped them and had a couple of chances ourselves , how did Nolans shot not go in .... Adrian has had a very good game and long may it continue .

    2-1 We,re gonna win 2-1

    ultimately a piss-poor result.

you can tell from the timings of the goals just how we played...

did kinda okay in the first half and then let in a sloppy goal....

pretty much gave up the game

    no one stood out

not sure what the tactics were... how many times do we have to play 4-5-1 before someone realizes we CAN'T play well in that formation no matter who the personnel are.

Sakho was totally isolated up front.

Nolan, Noble, Song... all pretty shitty...

If we didn't have Adrian and Collins we'd have lost by about ten...

Not sure why we're signing all these players to new contracts... all they do is get injured and then give up playing...

not sure what the point of the last ten games is other than seeing how far down the table we can possibly drop.

At this rate we'll be lucky to hold onto 14th or 15 place...

Score line doesn't reflect the game at all.  With 3 of our first choice defenders missing, we defended well. Allerdyce too late with substitutions.   The Arsenal vs West Ham United -- Sat March 14th 1290824782

scoreline perfectly reflects West Ham... piss poor concentration and no bottle...

apart form Collins and Adrian the defense was crappy - not just because we had three first teasers out but cos those that were chosen didn't play well.

and the contributions of the supposedly 'decent' regulars was woeful too... exemplified by Noble back in defense... with no one within ten feet of him... rather than let a ball drop to his feet and either hoof it over the halfway line or pass it to a team-mate... just heads it straight up in the air so it falls to an Arsenal player and continues pressure on a makeshift defense...

just all round poor choices and poor performance.

but this seems to be the west ham we're stuck with till next season because the chelsea performance seems like an aberation, although the result wasn't...
