If we need young blood, couldn't we just call back Hall and Morrison?

thats how I always feel when we sign these young players. they always attract interest (supposedly) from all these topclubs but inexplicably choose west ham. I cynically (im 29 now) think half the time its a PR exercise.

It's not an either/or thing, though, is it. Recruiting PL-quality players to strengthen the current squad is one thing, recruiting potential talent for the future is another, and I'm sure they have separate budgets within the club. Developing young talent is like buying Premium Bonds, a form of saving that doesn't have a guaranteed return but gives you the chance of maybe striking lucky. We would only stop recruiting youngsters if we were completely fupped financially.

Re: Jan silly season 2013
going by the rumours JC will join us on a 2.5 yr deal at £30K
with Liverpool giving him £3-4M to terminate his £90K a week contract
sounds like a good deal as a replacement for yossi
Also frees up a loan space in the squad

Still nuffink on the Offish, but the rumours seem to be getting louder and more detailed. Maybe JC has one or two good seasons left in him, we shall see ( if it's true, and he gets through the medical!) And an old sentimentalist like me would like to see him come home and make good. One thing niggles me though, I believe he played his best football for Mourinho, and I cannot imagine a manager less like Mourinho than BFS!!

Re: Jan silly season 2013
Played 40 times for Lille last season and got voted player of the year over Hazard, so he still has a lot to offer for what we are getting him for.
It is on the Liverpool official site now that he is with us (subject to medical and terms being sorted) and lejet (sp) tweeted that he is training with his hero
so i think it is pretty much a done deal.
IF and thats a big IF he can stay fit like last year i cant see a problem with his signing

One player who will not be arriving at Upton Park this transfer window is Nicolas Anelka.
Although Big Sam knows the player well, having worked with him in the past, it appears that the ex-French international, now having exited his spell in Chinese football, has financial expectations that exceed what we can provide with Big Sam confirming;
"The finances are a problem. We can only do what the owners can afford."

maybe, but at least from west hams point of view it means he is motivated and playing well to keep himself in the shop window which can only be a benefit to us in a season when most of us would have been happy with 17th spot! I also cant hate a player for wanting to join a champions league team, although when they do so then rot in the reserves and get splinters I always think they were better off where they were.

Rumour gathering pace is Remy.
Maiga to be used as a make weight.
Wouldn't impact on the Chamakh loan as it would be 1 out 2 in, a deal the Daves would sanction.

From Talkshite
West Ham have completed the signing of Joe Cole from Liverpool.
The 31-year-old has agreed a two-and-a-half year contract at Upton Park, believed to be around £30,000 a-week, after negotiating a deal with the Reds about the remainder of his contract at Anfield.
It's understood Brendan Rodgers side will pay the England midfielder £50,000 a week for the remaining 18-months of his deal.
