West Ham also want Wigan left-back Maynor Figueroa, 29, but may be forced to wait until the summer.

Goalkeeper Paul Robinson is expected to be the next Blackburn player to demand to leave Ewood Park.
Robinson was unsettled by talk of Brad Friedel returning to Ewood before the American signed a new contract at Tottenham, and young Jake Kean has taken over as first-choice in recent weeks. West Ham, Fulham and Reading have shown interest.
Meanwhile, West Ham are giving trials to midfielder Graham Zusi, 26, of Sporting Kansas and striker Juan Agudelo, 20, from Chivas USA.

Don't want Robinson at West Ham if he is now blackburns second keeper

I do. He is at a joke of a club but is still a top keeper. Younger than Jussi, more commanding with an excellent kicking game too. Yes please

    What TP said.

We do need better cover between the sticks, and Robinson is certainly no worse than Jaaskelainen, even if we do end up looking like a keeper's retirement home. He might come "darn sarf" to play in the Prem again, he's certainly going nowhere where he is now.

West Ham have reportedly taken USA international midfielder Graham Zusi on trial as he looks to secure a transfer to Europe.

The 26-year-old is currently playing in Major League Soccer for Sporting Kansas City.
Highly-rated Zusi is considered one of the best attacking midfielders in the league, and was named third in the MLS' Player of the Year awards recently.
A number of European clubs are understood to be trailing Zusi, but now he has agreed to link up with the Hammers.
Zusi, who has three years left on his current contract, is now set to spend the next week with West Ham with a view to him earning a move to Upton Park.

A worrying article on our new Brazlian striker. As the article says "at least he is only on loan with an option to buy"

West Ham's Latest Signing Wellington Paulista: A Brazilian Fan On Why He'll Flop
    by Mauricio Savarese
    8 January 2013
English football fans dream of their club signing a Brazilian, but a "paulista" after his name is a tell tale sign of why West Ham's new loan signing Wellington Paulista is going to be a flop.

There is a reason why Brazilian fans look down on English players. They think your footballers have little skill and your managers have a poor taste to get our best assets. That sentiment has skyrocketed since West Ham signed clumsy forward Wellington Paulista from Cruzeiro. Most of the messages from Brazil to East London last week included the words “thank you”.

Allow me to give an useful tip to your scouts. Whenever they want to offer a contract to a Brazilian player, always check if they use “paulista”, “carioca”, “mineiro”, “baiano” or “gaucho” after their first names. That shows the state they come from. That nickname very often that means this guy was not a first choice at some point in his career. There are few exceptions to this golden rule.

Wellington is not one of them. 6ft tall and 29-years-old, his best season came in 2008, when he was the top scorer of Brazil’s equivalent to the FA Cup, with 10 goals. His only experience abroad was in Spain’s Alaves in 2006-2007. He was on the pitch in 19 occasions then and scored twice. At Cruzeiro he netted 75 in 160 matches. Consider this a player whose best days are way past him.

He can score with his head, but that isn’t a very special asset comparing to the options West Ham has in Carlton Cole and Andy Carroll. Wellington isn’t as fast as Marouane Chamakh, but he can cross and play as a winger if necessary. Perhaps that is where he should be for the Hammers: he was the Brazilian Fernando Torres for misses in the penalty box in the last two years.

His success in England is very unlikely, but at least West Ham fans can seek some solace in that this is only a loan signing. If this guy does better than the English players at Upton Park, expect further teasing from Brazilian fans when England turn up to play in the 2014 World Cup.

    Oh dear lalala

According to reports West Ham United are eyeing Wigan Athletic full-back Maynor Figueroa.

The Daily Mail claims Hammers boss Sam Allardyce is keen on the Honduran.

It is understood Allardyce is looking to make two left-back signings this month.

However, it seems he may have to wait until the summer to land the 29-year-old.

Whats the views on him , cant say I know much about him apart from , he plays a dirty shit club

West Ham are ready to move for Sylvain Distin - which could pave the way for James Tomkins to join Newcastle.

The Hammers are lining up a bid for Everton defender Distin, who is out of contract in the summer, and his arrival would further limit Tomkins' opportunities in central defence.

Tomkins, 23, played a key role in West Ham's promotion from the Championship last season but has fallen down the pecking order this term, with manager Sam Allardyce preferring James Collins and Winston Reid at the heart of his backline.

As talkSPORT revealed last week, the Basildon-born defender is unsettled and frustrated at his lack of first-team opportunities.

Newcastle were interested in Tomkins when he was negotiating a new contract with his boyhood club this time last year and Alan Pardew is now poised to reignite his interest in the talented defender with his squad looking increasingly bare.

Tomkins has started just 11 Premier League games this season, sometimes as a makeshift right-back or central midfielder, which has stifled his progress.

The West Ham academy product agreed on a four-year deal 12 months ago but if his first-team chances continue to dry up, he may be open to a move away - especially should Distin make his way to Upton Park.
