Thing is for £3.5 million I cant believe most teams in the premier league aren't interested? he'd be a bargain for anyone.
Waiting for the end of January to save a couple of weeks wages I reckon, which is why we need to at least alter the terms of his contract NOW!

Re: Jan silly season 2013
West Ham's contract talks with Mohamed Diame have been complicated by a host of Barclays Premier League clubs, including Arsenal and Chelsea, showing interest in the Senegal midfielder.
Queens Park Rangers have already considered a move for Diame, who has a £3.5million release clause included in the contract he signed after joining the Hammers on a free transfer from Wigan last summer.

Re: Jan silly season 2013
West Ham are close to agreeing a £2.5million fee with Turkish club Kasimpasa for Carlton Cole.
The 29-year-old striker, whose contract expires in the summer, has slipped down the pecking order at Upton Park this month, following the arrivals of loanees Wellington Paulista and Marouane Chamakh from Cruzeiro and Arsenal respectively.
Also, England striker Andy Carroll, who's been borrowed from Liverpool for the season, is also set to return to the squad soon following an injury lay-off.
The Hammers have not offered Cole a new deal following the breakdown of talks at the start at the season.
Ambitious Kasimpasa were promoted to the Turkish top flight at the end of last season.
The Istanbul side boast former Manchester City keeper Andreas Isaakson in their squad.

Copied this from Wiki.
Celtic
Izaguirre agreed a four-year contract with Scottish Premier League side Celtic on 18 August 2010, subject to receiving a work permit.[5] He signed for an undisclosed fee[3][6] and was given the number 3 shirt.[2] He made his SPL debut in a 1–0 victory over Motherwell on 29 August 2010.[7] Izaguirre gave a solid performance that drew plaudits from Celtic manager Neil Lennon[8] and Motherwell manager Craig Brown.[9][10] On 19 September 2010, Izaguirre set up Anthony Stokes for the winning goal in a 2-1 league victory over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.[11] On 30 October 2010, he scored his first Celtic goal in a SPL game against St. Johnstone, where he intercepted a back pass then flicked the ball over St. Johnstone centre back Dave MacKay,[12][13] before slotting a goal under the goalkeeper. The game ended 3–0 to Celtic, with Izaguirre awarded man of the match for his performance.[14] In Celtic's 3–0 victory over Rangers on 20 February 2011, he set up Gary Hooper's second goal.[15]
In the 2011 League Cup Final defeat to Rangers, Izaguirre was sent off in extra time for a foul on Vladimír Weiss.[16][17] On 6 April 2011, he had another man of the match performance against Hibernian in a 3-1 SPL victory,[18] setting up Stokes for the first goal of the game.[19] In the 2010-11 SPL season, Izaguirre achieved a clean sweep of available senior player awards as chosen by players, organisations and the Celtic supporters. Izaguirre won both the SPFA Players' Player of the Year[20] and Scottish Premier League Player of the Year[21] awards for 2010–11. The judging panel for the latter award described Izaguirre as a "class act",[21] while Celtic assistant manager Johan Mjallby commented that Izaguirre could become one of the best players in his position in world football.[20] On 8 May 2011, at Celtic's award ceremony, Izaguirre picked up the Players' Player of the Year Award.[22] Finally, he was voted Scottish Football Writers player of the year,[23] rounding off a highly successful first season in Scottish football for Izaguirre.
Izaguirre started in the Celtic side on the opening day of the 2011–12 season against Hibernian[24] before suffering a broken ankle in the second match of Celtic's season on 7 August against Aberdeen.[25] Izaguirre required surgery on his ankle and was ruled out for between four and six months.[26] On 27 August 2011, he signed a new contract with Celtic, due to run until 2015.[27] Izaguirre returned to training, after recovering from his ankle injury, in December 2011.[28] He made his long-awaited return as a substitute on 2 January 2012 in Celtic's 3-0 win over Dunfermline Athletic at East End Park.[29]

Emanuel Pogatetz Would a very good signing for us on loan IMO He is of what I remmber of him at boro a similar player to Collins ,
Stephen Wornock would be an OK signing as cover and as long as it`s a free as I think he`s worst then McCartney and Potts IMO !

confirmation of the earlier rumour
Jack Sullivan @jsullivanwhu
I'd say we hope to sign a Centre Half and Left back within 48 hours, agreements nearly in place. You'll hear it first from me

Cant hide my excitement.
He didnt pull up any trees when he was at Boro, I seem to remember thinking he was a bit of a liability.
Not impressed.
If Warnock is given the chance to regain the form he showed at Blackburn and early in his Villa career then all good. No good bringing him in to sit on the bench, id have thought he needs to be playing regularly.
Saying that I wouldnt be surprised if Sam bought him in, stuck him on the bench and put his mate O'Brien at left back.

Re: Jan silly season 2013
Born in Graz, Pogatetz's career started at Sturm Graz before going to Kärnten and later to Bayer Leverkusen. After a short loan spell at Aarau, Grazer, and Spartak Moscow, he joined Middlesbrough.
He had also been tracked by Fulham, but during his final match on loan at Spartak Moscow, he tackled Yaroslav Kharitonskiy, leaving the Russian with a double leg fracture. Although initially banned for 24 weeks by the Russian Football Union,[4] the suspension was later reduced to eight weeks after Pogatetz attended a personal hearing in Moscow. As the ban commenced in June and was specified as a length of time rather than a number of matches, he ended up missing only three games for his new club Middlesbrough.I do remember that for some reason
On 30 March 2006, during the first leg of Middlesbrough's 2–0 UEFA Cup quarter-final defeat against Basel,[5] Pogatetz broke his nose, jaw and cheekbone in an accidental clash of heads with Mladen Petrić"Pogatetz will miss rest of season". BBC Sport. 31 March 2006. Retrieved 22 July 2012. and was later warned against returning to full training for three months, for fear of losing his eyesight.[6] He underwent successful surgery to have the fractures reset and Dr. Douglas Bryan declared himself "delighted" with Pogatetz's progress.[7] "It is anticipated he will make a full recovery and be back with his team-mates for pre-season training," said Middlesbrough head physio Grant Downie. "The only disappointing thing for Manny [Pogatetz] is he won't be able to play football, and he was desperate to get back involved. But another blow to his face would risk severe trauma and a potentially eyesight-threatening injury."[7]
Pogatetz suffered from a hernia, for which he received corrective surgery in Munich on 24 April 2006. On 4 July, he returned to training following successful surgery on his hernia and cheek.
In the 2006–07 season, Pogatetz was forced into the centre of defence due to an injury to Chris Riggott. He formed impressive partnerships at the back with both Robert Huth and Jonathan Woodgate, but was able to keep his place, even upon the returns of Woodgate and Riggott. Former England and Middlesbrough coach Steve McClaren said "He never, ever, gives less than 300% in performance."
After the 2007–08 season, Pogatetz was given the captain's armband on a full-time basis, following his taking up of the role towards the end of the season.
Pogatetz returned in the 2009–10 season after a long injury layoff, on 7 November in a 0–1 loss to Plymouth Argyle, only to suffer a recurrence of his cheekbone fracture with the scores tied at 0–0. He made his return to the first team against Nottingham Forest on 21 November in a 1–1 draw. He had to wear a protective mask because of his cheekbone fracture which he picked up in the Plymouth game. He received a bang to the head in the Forest game and had to receive stitches at half time, he still completed the full 90 minutes.
On 2 June 2010, he signed for German side Hannover 96 on a three-year contract.
On 20 June 2012, Pogatetz signed for the German Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg.[8]
